Built in 1915, the 351-metre-long wooden Long Jetty stretches across the waters of Tuggerah Lake in New South Wales, Australia. As the lake unfolds its vast blue expanse towards the horizon, an ordinary walk along the jetty becomes a quiet meditation on light, distance and time. At such a moment, it ceases to be merely a jetty. It becomes an otherworldly journey—from land, across the vastness of water, towards the horizon. As the fading light of the departing sun gives way to the approaching night, it seems to remind us of the transience of human life. As the afternoon slowly slips away, the jetty seems to carry the gaze—or perhaps even the soul—beyond the boundaries of sight, towards a tranquil, silent infinity. Here, watching the sunset feels like a little celebration each day—a sublime union of sky, water and light. And as the light gently fades, it seems to whisper: “Within the embrace of eternal night, every sunrise is eternal.”
১৯১৫ সালে নির্মিত অস্ট্রেলিয়ার নিউ সাউথ ওয়েলস-এর টুগেরাহ লেকের বুকে ৩৫১ মিটার দীর্ঘ কাঠের লং জেটি। যেখানে টুগেরাহ হ্রদের জলরাশি দিগন্তের দিকে মেলে ধরে তার নীল বিস্তার, সেখানে এক সাধারণ পথচলাই হয়ে ওঠে আলো, দূরত্ব ও সময়কে ঘিরে এক নীরব ধ্যান। তখন এটি কেবল একটা জেটি থাকে না, পরিণত হয় স্থল থেকে জলের বিস্তার পেরিয়ে দিগন্তের দিকে এক অপার্থিব যাত্রায়, বিদায়ী সূর্যের ম্রিয়মান আলোর পর আসন্ন রাত্রি যেন স্মরণ করিয়ে দেয় মানুষের নশ্বর জীবনের কথা। বিকেল যখন ধীরে ধীরে ফুরিয়ে আসে, জেটিটি যেন দৃষ্টিকে— কিংবা হয়তো আত্মাকেও— দৃষ্টির সীমানা পেরিয়ে নিয়ে যায় এক শান্ত, নীরব অনন্তের দিকে। এখানে সূর্যাস্ত দেখা যেন প্রতিদিনের এক ছোট্ট উৎসব— আকাশ, জল আর আলোর এক অপূর্ব মিলন।
সেই নিভে আসা আলো যেন ফিস ফিস করে বলে, "শাশ্বত রাত্রির বুকে সকলি অনন্ত সূর্যোদয়।"
